Arts & Activism founder Jibriyll Izsrael hosted the evening alongside the Kentucky Center's ArtsReach director Julia Youngblood

On Sunday evening, the Kentucky Center for the Arts hosted the Unity In Activism Awards Presentation & Performance in a demonstration of thanks to outstanding contributions to the community of Louisville. The event was brought to life by The Arts & Activism Organization founded by activist Jibriyll Izsrael.

Actor KL Kirby delivers a spirited interlude considering the curiosity "why am I here?"

Award recipients included Corner of Jazz founder Ken Clay, neighborhood leader Neal Robertson, matron Nana Yaa Asantewaa, community organizer Richard Whitlock and children's author/illustrator Tytianna Smith. 

The ceremony included an array of musical performances by the jazz quartet of Tee Dee Young and local songstress Chanson Calhoun, an interpretive performance by the John O. Keen Dance company and an embellished narrative driven by actor KL Kirby.
